RECENT PRESS / INKED GIRLS
Tattoos are cool, so are hot women. Inked Girls magazine is full of both, which is like double cool… They just featured SABRE’s Runaway sunglasses in an editorial shoot styled by Danielle Defoe, which is like triple cool. Check it out below. Tweet
JANUARY / FEBRUARY EURO TRIP
It’s easy to sum up most people’s relationship with the trade show season in two words; love / hate. The love is an endless supply of free booze, countless parties, thousands of single individuals, the opportunity to catch up with old friends, the opportunity to make new friends, and of course getting to travel for “work”. The hate part is the setup, loading and unloading, pretending to look energized on three to four hours sleep, and it does get hard to forget the never ending “didn’t we meet yesterday” “what’s your name again” “here’s my card” “do you have a wristband” conversations. Despite all this my relationship is mostly love. Like anything the shows are only as good as you make them, and this year we went above and beyond to ensure SABRE wreaked all sorts of havoc at Europe’s biggest trade show ISPO – we organized a two night party in a converted nazi bunker with our friends from Rhythm Europe, our booth turned into a makeshift photo shoot thanks to some randoms we met at the show, a few of us broke into the ski hall and attempted to steal rollerblades, by complete accident the SABRE booth turned into a pre-party drinks area four days in a row, we even managed to smash a $2,500 camera lens. My time in Munich felt like it passed in a heartbeat, and now that I’ve have had time to decompress the below photos and a hazy intoxicated memory are all there is to remember the stay. Tweet
THOM PRINGLE AND FRIENDS PART II
It seems like Thom Pringle clips keep popping up out of thin air, every time I open my inbox there’s a new link to a vid of him slashing and spinning on a combination of waves from all corners of the globe. This time around the SABRE shredder is pieced together with a couple of friends courtesy of good pal and videographer Nat Lanyon, and given how depressing the Australian Summer has been, Pink Mountaintops sombre tune How To Get Free is the perfect partner to the smokey black and white footage. VIDEO / A NIGHT ON SITE REVIEW
What happens when you organize a two night party at a converted Nazi bunker in downtown Munich? I’ve got no idea if the following would ever happen again, but over the first two nights of the ISPO trade show SABRE and Rhythm Europe joined forces for an event that welcomed a band playing in spandex, live tattooing, a seemingly endless supply of free booze, the hanging and subsequent destruction of prized artworks, a 500 person guest list for a 400 person capacity venue (and that’s before 300 other randoms showed up for a sniff of the action), a 30′s style sex swing, Norwegian black metal playing in the ladies toilets and a host of other weirdness that is difficult to piece back together. For a glimpse of what went down, check out the clip below… Tweet
CREATURE WINS THIS YEARS TRANSWORLD SKATE AND CREATE CONTEST
By now you would have heard that SABRE aficionado Al Partanen and the rest of the Creature fiends won the 4th annual Transworld Skate and Create Contest (that is unless you’ve been sleeping under a rock of course). Their vid sees them skating through bars, launching over hotrods and blatantly using pinup style girls as eye candy. Check out the madness below… Tweet

Skrillex wearing the SABRE Madness glasses at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards… Congratulations are in order for not just the three grammy awards, but for accepting in such fine eyewear too. Tweet

LOS ANGELES COUNTY BANS FUN
When you head down to the beach for a little fun this summer, county officials want you to leave the pigskin at home. The Board of Supervisors this week agreed to raise fines for anyone who throws a football or a frisbee on any beach in Los Angeles County. In passing the 37-page ordinance on Tuesday, officials sought to outline responsibilities for law enforcement and other public agencies while also providing clarification on beach-goer activities that could potentially disrupt or even injure the public. According to Lucy Kim, from the LA County Department of Beaches and Harbors, a first-time offender will have to pay a $100 fine. For a second offense, beach-goers will face a $200 fine. Three or more infractions within one year will result in a $500 fine, Kim said. To read the detailed story, click here. Tweet

THOM PRINGLE AND FRIENDS / BALI
After the successful release of Riley Blakeway’s short film Thom (centered around SABRE shredder Thom Pringle) we thought Mr. Pringle might’ve sailed off into the sunset to bask in the glory of biographical fame, but out of nowhere comes this tasty little clip of Thom and friends in Bali, all to the dreamy pop sounds of London based band Still Corners.
